HomeHero ("we", "our", or "the app") is a family scheduling app built for parents managing kids' activities. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, what we share, and the rights you have over your data.
HomeHero is operated by Declan Martin as a sole proprietor. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at hello@homehero.today.
The short version: We collect only what we need to run the app — your account info, the events you create, and (if you connect it) your Google Calendar data. We don't sell your data. We don't read your emails. We don't share data with advertisers. Your Google Calendar data stays between you, Google, and HomeHero.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign up for HomeHero, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- The names and ages of children you add to your family profile
- Your home address (only if you choose to add it, used for drive-time calculations)
Information you create in the app
- Events, activities, and schedules you add manually
- Locations and addresses you save
- Reminders and preferences you set
Information from Google (if you connect)
If you choose to connect your Google Calendar, we receive:
- Calendar events on your connected Google Calendar (titles, times, locations, recurrence rules)
- Your primary Google Account email address (used to identify which Google account is connected)
Device and usage information
- Device type and operating system version (for crash diagnostics)
- App version
- Anonymous usage events (which screens you visit, which features you use — never tied to your identity in ways that would identify you to third parties)
2. Google API Services User Data Policy
HomeHero's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Scopes we request
| Scope | Why we need it |
| userinfo.email |
To identify which Google Account is connected to your HomeHero account. We don't use this to send marketing emails. |
| calendar |
To read existing calendar events into HomeHero and to create new events on your Google Calendar when you add them in HomeHero. This is the core feature of the app. |
What we don't do with Google data
- We do not transfer Google user data to any third party except as necessary to provide the HomeHero service, and only with your consent
- We do not use Google user data for advertising
- We do not use Google user data to build user profiles for marketing
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data, except (a) with your explicit consent, (b) for security investigations or to comply with applicable law, or (c) when the data has been aggregated and anonymized
- We do not request or use any Gmail-related scopes
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Run the core scheduling features of the app — showing your family's events, sending reminders, calculating drive times
- Sync events between HomeHero and your Google Calendar (in both directions, when you've connected your calendar)
- Show conflicts between overlapping events
- Improve the app through anonymized usage analysis
- Respond to your support requests
- Detect bugs and prevent abuse
4. How we share your information
We share your data only in these specific cases:
- Service providers we use to run the app: MongoDB Atlas (database hosting), Railway (server hosting), Google Maps Platform (drive-time calculations using event addresses), and RevenueCat (subscription management). These providers process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- When required by law: If we receive a valid legal request (subpoena, court order, etc.), we may disclose information to comply.
- To protect HomeHero or our users: If we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or harm.
We never sell your personal data. We never share your data with advertisers. We never share your Google Calendar data with any third party.
5. Where your data is stored
HomeHero data is stored on servers in the United States (MongoDB Atlas, Railway). If you are accessing HomeHero from outside the US, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the US.
6. How long we keep your data
- Account data: Kept as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Google Calendar data: Held temporarily for syncing. Refreshed each sync; cached data is cleared on disconnect.
- Diagnostic logs: Kept for up to 90 days, then automatically purged.
7. Your rights and choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct data that is inaccurate
- Delete your account and associated data at any time from within the app, or by emailing hello@homehero.today
- Disconnect your Google Calendar at any time from the Family settings tab — this immediately stops sync and clears cached Google data
- Revoke Google access entirely at myaccount.google.com/permissions
- Export your data — email us and we'll send your data in a portable format within 30 days
Residents of California, the European Union, and the United Kingdom have additional rights under CCPA, GDPR, and UK GDPR respectively. To exercise these rights, email hello@homehero.today.
8. Children's privacy
HomeHero is designed for parents to manage their family's schedule, which may include information about their children. HomeHero is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Children's information added to the app (names, activity participation) is provided by and managed by their parent or legal guardian.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, encrypted database storage, OAuth 2.0 with PKCE for Google authentication, and access controls that restrict who can see your data. No system is perfect — we do our best, and we promise to notify you promptly if a breach affects your data.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you continue using HomeHero after a change, you accept the updated policy.
